In a storied 21-year coaching career, Tara VanDerveer has established herself as one of the top coaches in the history of both collegiate and international basketball.

VanDerveer has accumulated an impressive 497-142 (.778) record in 21 years of collegiate coaching. Additionally, during seven USA Basketball coaching assignments, VanDerveer has a remarkable 88-8 (.917) record.

VanDerveer, who enters the 2000-01 season just three wins shy of 500 for her collegiate coaching career, has led Stanford to two NCAA titles, five NCAA Final Four appearances, nine Pacific-10 Conference titles and 11 NCAA Tournament berths in her 14 seasons on The Farm. VanDerveer has been named National Coach of the Year as well as District Coach of the Year three times each, and she has been named Pac-10 Coach of the Year on four occasions.

In addition, she became internationally known in 1996 when she guided the United States Olympic Women’s Basketball Team to the gold medal in Atlanta. VanDerveer led the National/Olympic team, which included Stanford products Jennifer Azzi and Katy Steding, to an incredible 60-0 record in 1995-1996.
